Addressing frequently asked questions about the transition of MGC's RT-qPCR Master Mix v2 and qPCR Master Kit v3 to the new "Amplification Mix" format.
What's happening?
Medicinal Genomics is re-branding the RT-qPCR Master Mix v2 as "PathoSEEK® Amplification Mix". The SKU 420207 is no longer available.
What products are impacted?
Amplification Mix will replace RT-qPCR Master Mix v2 for the following methods:
- PathoSEEK® Virus Multiplex Detection Assay A Kit - P/N 420507
- qPCR Assay - 1 tube (Store at -15 to -20 °C). Expires 2 Years from Date of Manufacture.
- PathoSEEK Amplification Mix - 4 Vials each containing 50 reactions of lyophilized mix - Store lyophilized Amplification Mix at room temperature until ready to use. Before first use, rehydrate 1 vial of Amplification Mix in 550 µL of supplied Nuclease Free Water and swirl or gently tip mix. Rehydrated amplification mix should be stored at -20°C for up to 3 months.
- 2 tubes of PCR grade nuclease free water for use with rehydration are included.
- PathoSEEK® Hop Latent Viroid Detection Assay v2 Kit- P/N 420512
Why is Medicinal Genomics making this change?
The lyophilized enzyme can work as both a standard qPCR assay enzyme as well as a RT-qPCR assay enzyme. There are simply different protocols required for each. The re-branding as "Amplification Mix" clarifies that the item is universal across both assay types. The lyophilized enzyme makes it much more attractive for shipping and storage.
What other products is Amplification Mix validated for use with?
We are validating Amplification Mix (fka RT-qPCR Master Mix) for use not only with the virus/viroid assays that require an RT enzyme, but also with our standard qPCR methods that use MaGiC Lysis. These assays are sold in a kit with the Amplification Mix.
We have validated the following assays for use with the Amplification Mix:
- 420517 - Salmonella and STEC Multiplex
- 420525 - Salmonella and E. coli Multiplex
- Aspergillus
- 420527 - Listeria
- 420526 - Staph and Pseudomonas Multiplex
- 420507 - Hop Latent Viroid
- 420512 - Virus Multiplex Detection Assay: Hop Latent Viroid / Lettuce Chlorosis / Cannabis Cryptic Multiplex
As we validate and kit more of our assays with the Amplification Mix, we will update this help article.
Can I purchase Amplification Mix by itself?
In an effort to simplify our menu and the ordering process, we have begun packaging the PathoSEEK Amplification Mix with the RT-qPCR or qPCR assay and where applicable the MaGiC Lysis reagents as a kit instead of individually.
If you need to order the Amplification Mix by itself, please reach out to your account manager or call or email us at (866)574-3582 or support@medicinalgenomics.com
