Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) Product Specifications
Medicinal Genomics supplied TSB conforms to the formula given by the U.S. Pharmacopeia.
Tryptic Soy Broth is a growth medium that is used to homogenize the sample before the DNA extraction step. It is also used for overnight incubation in our microbial detection assay protocol. This product is not intended to be used for the diagnosis of human disease.
Tryptic Soy Broth is also known as Soybean-Casein Digest. TSB contains digests of soybean meal and casein, which provide amino acids and other nitrogenous substances, making it a highly nutritious medium for a variety of organisms. It is commonly recommended for use as a general purpose medium for the isolation and cultivation of a wide variety of bacteria and fungi.
Limitations and Quality Statement
Due the manufacturing process and ingredients of culture medias, TSB will sometimes contain non-viable organisms that will be evident on a gram stain. Product appearance may vary slightly in color from lot to lot.
Culture media should not be used if it shows signs of microbial contamination (turbidity), dehydration (shrinking or cracking of the medium), hemolysis, extreme discoloration, or is beyond the expiration date.
All Medicinal Genomics reagents are manufactured in a facility certified to ISO 9001 standards. All lots of reagents are functionally tested in house and Certificates of Analysis (COAs) are available upon request.
